What is the stored products we have?

There is large number of the stored product human also stored them into different means of storage system to keep them safe from damaging pest for their consumption and to meet their food and animal feed to an appropriate time from harvesting to final products use. which is stored product that are consumed by human?

Cereals grain (beans nuts pulses wheat, rice, maize grain)
Seed grain (barley, oats and other stored seed)

Various form of the stored products pest which induced damaged and cause the infestation into beneficial products and make them unfit for human consumption, likewise, red flour beetle, granary weevil, cigarette beetle, and other voracious beetle and some species of moth included

They also attack on the field crop, after harvesting if inspection is not occurred properly pest also moved into the storage system where they continue their life stages and increase the infestation rate,

What is fumigation? Why we need fumigation processes? Are there any benefits of fumigation on stored products?

Fumigation is the method to control pest population and any harmful microorganism’s in to controlled or sealed environment by applying chemical gas or vpour, fumigant aluminum phosphide, magnesium phosphide, phosphine most effectively used in fumigation

There is different type of storage system

Traditional storage and modern storage system, in traditional system the commodities are stored into open boxes and any other bricks making silos, where fumigation is not appropriate, not well constructed, in that condition Diatomatous earth which is abrasive for insect is used to keep safe products from the attack of pest
Modern storage system?

Well-constructed fully sealed make of concrete, metal, silos, warehouse, bins, mills, go downs fumigation into spaces I.e. containers, ships, small storage rooms in these storage system applications of phosphine is easy and provide 100% result if we fallow some parameters

Structure fully sealed, no any cracks or hole occurred otherwise fumigation failed target pest not killed.
Dosage: apply proper dose to target pest
Exposure time: should be maintained
Temperature and humidity: below 5c temperature don’t fumigate.

Systematic management of fumigation?

Check safety equipment and filters, final instruction before fumigation, apply fumigant (Detia bags, pellets tablets, blankets strips) in space fumigation volume of the structure should be determined.in open grain also apply the blanket and strips on the upper side of grain and burrow 30cm deep into the grain, in horizontal silos probing practices should be applied

J system of fumigation

In verticals and large-scale silos fumigation should be done by j system, in this procedure recirculation of air or phosphine gas through the silos, ventilators, portable fan B9(1/2HP), model A3 portable fan (½ HP) are used air pipes

In this system fumigant also hang on the upper side of silos and ventilator blower b9 suck the phosphine and circulate through the base of silos evenly.

Automatic dispenser : tablets and pellet can be applied by hand or on the feeder belt directly into the filling opening of silos .
